Miniature Trains and Firetrucks

On Sunday we went for a picnic lunch at a miniature railway spot.
The kids had great fun exploring the old train carriages before we had lunch.

Ye olde sign and drinking fountain.

Gareth joined us for the afternoon while Sally was at home sick :-(
Stephen enjoyed the chocolate pudding :-)

After lunch we headed off to board the train...

The steam engine was hand built by the driver - must have taken him many, many hours of devoted labour.

This morning there was great excitement as firetrucks went racing past our house - full sirens and lights - on their way to the fire across the lake from us. They only took a few minutes to get the fire under control - thankfully, since our house was only about 400m from the blaze. All in all 3 firetrucks and a helicopter had us all relieved to see the last bit of smoke. We are so thankful to the Lord for protecting us - it was a good teaching time for Emily who immediately started panicking about dying and - even worse - having all her stuff burn up. Stephen slept through the whole episode.
