On Saturday, a dear friend from South Africa passed on to be with our Lord. The following is a letter sent out from her husband. It is so true what he said that there is not one person who knew Freda that was not touched by her amazing spirit. We will miss her until we meet her again in eternity.
"Dear friends,
At 12h15 on Saturday 29 November 2008 it pleased God to release Freda from the many years of struggling with cancer. She is now joyfully with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ enjoying eternal rest and joy.
Freda was diagnosed with cancer for the first time in late 1987 and has had 9 recurrences of the disease. You all know how graciously and humbly she handled every incident and the blessing that she was to all of us in the way in which she remained positive and gentle even under the most trying treatment and side effects. She touched all our lives and we were quietly reprimanded (without words) to evaluate how we would have handled the trials that she went through. We all stood far back in her shadow, but we grew over the years. I know of nobody that was an enemy of Freda, I know of nobody that was not impacted by Freda, I know of nobody that does not love Freda with a love and respect that surpasses any other love and respect that they have with the exception of their love for Christ.
When we think about Freda, we should not say “what a great woman”, we should say “what a great God!!” because she was only able to live the testimony that she lived in a living and loving relationship with Christ. It was from Christ that her courage and humility came. Trust us that God has been faithful in these years and that He will remain faithful. He never put us in a situation where he did not also supply the strength to bear it and to rejoice in it. And He will be equally faithful to comfort all of us and accompany us through the days and weeks and months ahead.
Look at God with joy and awe at what he has done in Freda’s life and in her death. And strive to build a living loving relationship with Jesus Christ as the only way to peace with God and everlasting joy. There is no security or safety outside a real saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

It was so encouraging to see how everybody in Grace Fellowship surrounded Ian this morning in church, not overwhelming, just protecting and supporting. What a priveledge it was to be in a church like this for so many years, we have learned so much from everybody there, one of them being Freda. We are gonna miss everybody so much, and long to reunite again in our Fathers house.
